My work background centered around the business world of fashion. In the 1970s, in my 20s, I was an associate fashion editor at Vogue magazine (straight off the farm in Alabama to New York City!) Later, in the 1980s and 90s, I gathered a ‘pride’ of women designers and created an art-to-wear store in Atlanta—designed for the “grown-up bride” and emerging modern woman—which, it was later reported, became pivotal in altering an outdated wedding industry.

My experiences working with thousands of women, and observing the changing nature of relationships, led to writing articles and books focused on woman-centric transformative rites of passage, which evolved into a focus on the feminine-energy-fueled consciousness shift moving through the world. And I loved talking about it too, as a keynote speaker, using the history of costume and the wisdom of women to tell the stories of human evolution…and what’s love got to do with it! (Thanks, Tina.)

After enjoying several years of spiritual journeying around the planet, I moved to the Western North Carolina Mountains in 2008 and now look out at the world from my writing loft nestled on a steep, green mountain ridge. I tell people that growing up on a farm in south Alabama, including visits “up the road” with two extraordinary grandmothers, gave me a “wondering” quality about finding beauty in the miraculous everyday of Mother Nature. ~
